Flood Victims Exempted From Paying Replacement Fee For Roadtax, Driving Licence & VOC

Flood Victims Exempted From Paying Replacement Fee For Roadtax, Driving Licence & VOC

In light of the massive flash floods in eight states in Peninsular Malaysia, Transport Minister Datuk Seri Ir. Dr Wee Ka Siong has announced that flood victims are exempted from paying replacement fees for Motor Vehicle License (roadtax), Driving Licence and Vehicle Ownership Certificate (VOC).

The announcement came yesterday, Dec 21, in a press conference after the inaugural Kuala Lumpur International Logistics and Transport (KiLAT) Excellence Awards ceremony.

Replacement fees for driving licence and roadtax

For your information, the Road Transport Department (JPJ) imposes fees to replace driving licence or roadtax as follows:

    • Driving licence replacement: RM20
    • Motorcycle roadtax replacement: RM20
    • Car roadtax replacement: RM50

No fixed grace period to replace the documents

Transport Minister Datuk Seri Ir. Dr Wee Ka Siong

According to Wee, the Ministry of Transport has decided not to impose any fees to flood victims to replace the documents. In fact, they do not set any grace period for the victims to replace their documents. He added that the victims have other crucial matters to attend to, such as managing their homes and families.

Police report required for replacement fee exemption

Added Wee, flood victims who wish to get the exemption must lodge a police report on the loss of the documents. However, they do not have to rush to make the report as he has asked the JPJ to assist those affected by the floods.

After getting the police report, flood victims will have to visit a JPJ branch to replace the documents.

Wee added that the ministry is planning to set up mobile JPJ counters to ease the process for flood victims.

Agencies under the Transport Ministry mobilised to help flood victims

In addition, Wee said that agencies under the Transport Ministry such as JPJ, Land Public Transport Agency and Marine Department of Malaysia have been mobilised to help flood victims.
