\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>That was not the first case to happen in Malaysia. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many vehicle owners are also seen using number plates that are fancy and difficult to read.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mekanika.com.my\/motosikal-paling-banyak-guna-nombor-plat-fancy-226142-saman-telah-dikeluarkan\/\">statistic in 2020<\/a> reveals that motorcyclists make up the majority group using fancy number plates. A total of 226,142 summonses were issued to them for the offence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, 118,372 summonses were issued to car owners, followed by drivers who used 4WD (12,632), lorry (5,081), van (3,047), and others (136).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In total, the number of summonses issued from 2019 to December 2020 for the offence alone is 365,410 summonses!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Specifications_of_vehicle_number_plates_by_JPJ\"><\/span>Specifications of vehicle number plates by JPJ<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Given the summonses, it is clear that having a fancy number plate is not allowed. But what type of number plate can people choose? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Typically, all motor vehicles use the same format for number plates. <meta charset=\"utf-8\">All vehicle number plates in Malaysia must use white characters with a black background for the front and rear sides of the car. Many continue to use fancy number plates as long as legal action is not taken against them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, did you know that failing to obey the rule may cause you to be fined not less than RM300 and not more than RM3,000 under Section 14 (4) APJ 1987? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yes.
