Line up both cars<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Park both cars near each other so that the car batteries are within easy reach (without the cars touching). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Keep the handbrakes on and the ignitions off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2. Connect the red jump lead<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Use the red jump lead to connect the working battery\u2019s positive (+) terminal to the flat battery\u2019s positive (+) terminal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>3. Connect the black jump lead<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Take the black jump lead and attach it to the working battery&#8217;s negative (-) terminal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then, attach the other end to an earthing point (unpainted metal on the engine block or chassis) away from the flat battery and fuel system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>4. Start the other car<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Keep both engines off and wait for 3 minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then, start the working car\u2019s engine and let it run for 1 minute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>5. Start your car<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Turn on the engine of the car with the flat battery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>6. Let both cars run<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Leave both cars idle for about 10 minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>7. Turn off both engines and disconnect<\/strong> <strong>the jump leads<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Turn off both cars\u2019 engines. Disconnect the leads carefully in the reverse order to how they are connected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please make sure the leads do not touch one another, or either car, as you remove them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>8. Restart your car<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Try turning the ignition key to see whether you can start your engine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>9. Call for help<\/strong> <strong>if you still cannot start your engine<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If your car still refuses to start, there is probably a more severe problem that requires professional
