\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>PUSPAKOM is a vehicle inspection company appointed by the Malaysian Government to undertake all mandatory inspections for commercial and private vehicles. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The inspection helps guarantee a vehicle&#8217;s safety and compliance with the regulations set by the authorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"types-of-inspections\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Types_of_inspections\"><\/span>Types of inspections<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>There are several vehicle inspections available at PUSPAKOM. You may refer to this article to identify the inspection needed for your vehicle:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"periodic-inspection\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Periodic_inspection\"><\/span>Periodic inspection<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the Road Transport Act 1987, it is a requirement for commercial vehicles to undergo a routined inspection at PUSPAKOM every six months. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The periodic inspection applies to all commercial vehicles, including a taxi, rental car, limousine taxi, bus, minibus, van and jeep. A fee of RM50 is charged for each periodic inspection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"transfer-of-ownership\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Transfer_of_ownership\"><\/span>Transfer of ownership<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Road Transport Act 1987 also requires all private vehicles to undergo a Transfer of Ownership Inspection at PUSPAKOM before the ownership transfer.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This inspection helps protect the new vehicle owner from buying or owning an unlawful vehicle, such as a cut-and-joined vehicle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You need to pay RM30 for the inspection&#8217;s fee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>*Note: If you have misplaced or lost your original car grant, you may refer to our previous article to learn <a href=\"https:\/\/bjak.my\/blog\/lost-your-car-grant-heres-what-you-need-to-do\/\">how to replace your lost car grant<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"preliminary-inspection\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Preliminary_inspection\"><\/span>Preliminary inspection<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>New or used commercial vehicles whose ownership has yet to be changed must undergo a Preliminary Inspection before they are registered with the Road Transport Department. This ensures that the vehicle complies with its construction and standards of use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You need to pay between RM30 to RM90 for the inspection&#8217;s fee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"hire-purchase-inspection\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Hire_Purchase_inspection\"><\/span>Hire Purchase inspection<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kpdnhep.gov.my\/images\/dokumen\/awam\/perundangan\/AktaBI\/2-bi-Hire-Purchase-Act-1967-as-at-30-7-2012.pdf\">Hire Purchase Act 1967<\/a>, any buyer applying for a loan to purchase a used vehicle must send the car for a Hire Purchase Inspection.&nbsp;This inspection helps protect buyers of used vehicles from buying an illegal or unroadworthy vehicle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You need to pay RM60 for the inspection&#8217;s fee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"voluntary-vehicle-inspection\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Voluntary_vehicle_inspection\"><\/span>Voluntary vehicle inspection<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"voluntary-vehicle-inspection\">Voluntary Vehicle Inspection helps you understand the conditions of your vehicle. You will understand better what maintenance requirements are needed to ensure your vehicle&#8217;s roadworthiness.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"voluntary-vehicle-inspection\">However, it is not a mandatory inspection under the Road Transport Act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"voluntary-vehicle-inspection\">You need to pay RM50 for the inspection&#8217;s fee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"special-inspection\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Special_inspection\"><\/span>Special inspection<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Special Inspection is mandatory for the following vehicles:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Private vehicles with <a href=\"https:\/\/bjak.my\/blog\/roadtax-renewal-frequently-asked-questions\/#Can_I_renew_my_roadtax_after_3_years\">expired road tax of more than 3 years<\/a><\/li><li>Commercial or private vehicles that undergo vehicle modifications &#8211; auto body, chassis or engine modification<\/li><li>Interchange of car plate numbers<\/li><li>New or used imported vehicles to be registered with the Road Transport Department<\/li><li>Other types of requirements requested by the Road Transport Department<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>The inspection fees vary based on the type of vehicle ranging from RM30 to RM90.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"required-documents\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Required_documents\"><\/span>Required documents<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The necessary documents may vary according to the inspection type.
