A motorcyclist died at the scene after being run by a drunk Myvi driver in Jalan Kuching.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sinarharian.com.my\/article\/123738\/BERITA\/Semasa\/Anggota-polis-maut-dilanggar-pemandu-mabuk\">13 Feb 2021<\/a> &#8211; A police officer died at the scene after getting involved in an accident with an allegedly drunk driver in Kluang.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.utusan.com.my\/berita\/2021\/03\/pemuda-maut-motosikal-dilanggar-pemandu-mabuk\/\">1 Mac 2021<\/a> &#8211; A man died after his motorcycle was run from behind by an MPV drunk driver before being dragged about 1.5 km. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4. <a href=\"https:\/\/malaysiagazette.com\/2020\/09\/22\/pelajar-tingkatan-5-maut-dilanggar-pemandu-mabuk\/\">22 Sept 2020<\/a> &#8211; However, does it cover an accident involving a drunk driver?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Malaysia, driving under the influence of alcohol is a general exception to car insurance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Th<strong>e insurance company doesn&#8217;t cover vehicle or property damage due to alcohol influence. <\/strong>However,<strong> they will pay the cost of the injury as well as the damage suffered by the third party<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But, please note that <strong>the insurer is eligible to reclaim the amount insured<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You policy may be cancelled. As a result, the court allows compensation to be claimed by the victim.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The insurance company will pay the compensation first to the third party. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, the driver will have to pay back the amount of the compensation and the legal costs as well to the insurer.
