Car turn signal is an essential component of a vehicle. You can think of it as a component that helps road users ‘communicate’ with each other. Turn signal communicates to other road users that you want to change lanes. This communication, in turn, prevents accidents from happening as you switch lanes.
Turn signal light usually flashes at a normal speed. However, there are situations where it flashes faster than usual. If this happens, it means that there is a problem that you need to check and fix.
Bulb problem
Your turn signal bulb can burn out after years of use. A faulty bulb will interfere with the flow in the circuit, which, in turn, causes a different electric current through the blinker.
To check whether your turn signal bulb is faulty, turn it on and see whether it lights up. If it does not light up, inspect the bulb and replace it with a new one.
Aftermarket turn signal
Aftermarket parts refer to spare parts that are not from the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM).
While aftermarket lights may look more appealing, not all aftermarket lights available in the market are compatible with a car electrical system. If your turn signal flickers faster than usual after using aftermarket components like LED lights, try switching to the original components and see whether the problem persists.
Wiring problem
Your turn signal system is connected by wires. Therefore, if it flashes faster than usual, it is possible that one of the wires in the system is faulty or worn out. In addition, its flasher can also become faulty and therefore needs to be replaced after a certain period.
So, try checking the wire, blinker and flasher sections to identify possible problems.
Inspect your car turn signal
Turn signal plays a crucial role in ensuring that you can overtake another vehicle or turn safely when other drivers are notified to make way for you. If you find it not functioning as usual, please have it checked and repaired immediately.
