Discount Period On Traffic Summons Extended Till Dec 31!

Discount period for traffic summons extended till Dec 31

Have you missed your chance to pay your summons?

Good news for those who have unpaid traffic summonses as police have extended the discount period until the of the year – December 31! The announcement came following the overwhelming response from the public to pay their outstanding summonses.

According to the Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani, the extension of the discount offer is to ensure that those who have unpaid traffic summonses have the opportunity to settle their fines.

Previously, the discounts on unpaid summonses were offered in conjunction with the 100 Days of the Malaysian Family Aspiration celebration at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) from December 9 to 12, 2021.

However, the summons discount counters at KLCC were ordered to be shut down on Friday for not complying with the Covid-19 standard operating procedure (SOP) due to the overwhelming number of people who had come to settle their summonses.

Acryl Sani said it was challenging for the authorities to control and supervise the large crowd and enforce the SOP. Therefore, they had no choice but to close all counters to comply with the SOP and ensure social distancing.

That said, we have decided to open all traffic counters nationwide to those interested in settling their summonses. Our rationale for extending the discount period is to avoid crowding and a last-minute rush at these traffic counters,” he was quoted as saying.

Reports have shown that a total of 2.3 million summonses worth RM109mil have been paid nationwide since December 9.
