There are various ways one can renew their vehicle road tax in Malaysia, both online and offline. Among online means, MySIKAP is a viable option that people can opt for easy and hassle-free renewal.
For the uninitiated, mySIKAP is a public service portal by the Road Transport Department (JPJ) that enables Malaysians to perform various transactions online, such as car road tax and driver’s licence renewal, among others. For those who are not familiar with this platform, here’s a comprehensive guide with step-by-step guides on how to register, login and renew roadtax via mySIKAP.
How to register?
To use the mySIKAP portal, users must first register for an account. Here are the steps involved in registering for an account on mySIKAP:
- Step 1: Visit the mySIKAP portal at https://public.jpj.gov.my/public/login.zul
- Step 2: Click on the Sign In As First Time User (MyKad) at the bottom of the page
- Step 3: Fill in all the information marked with * and enter the security code as shown
- Step 4: Check the confirmation box and press the Submit button
- Step 4: Click Yes on the prompt message shown on the screen
- Step 5: After successful registration, the first-time password will be sent to your email
Note: The first-time password is only valid for 7 days. If you fail to activate your account within that period, you must sign up for an account again.
First-time login
After successful registration, users will have to complete the first-time login within 7 days to activate their account. The steps to follow for first-time log-in are as follows:
- Step 1: Visit https://public.jpj.gov.my/public/login.zul
- Step 2: Enter your NRIC number and the first password that was sent to you via email
- Step 3: Enter the security code that appears on the screen and click login
- Step 4: After logging in, make sure to change to a new password and fill in the security questions
- Step 5: After changing the new password, login again and start browsing the platform
Renew roadtax on mySIKAP
mySIKAP lets you renew road tax easily from anywhere like MyEG roadtax renewal. Please note that only the rightful owners of vehicles can perform renewal via this platform. This method does not support renewal on behalf of a parent, sibling or spouse.
- Step 1: Log in to mySIKAP and click on the Vehicle option
- Step 2: Under the Vehicle Search (Transactions / Actions) submenu, select Renew Motor Vehicle License (LKM)
- Step 3: Click OK and enter the Vehicle Registration Number
- Step 4: Click Search and the system will display the vehicle information
- Step 5: Click Continue and verify the information displayed for accuracy
- Step 6: Click Valid & Continue and proceed to fill in the required information
- Step 7: Make the payment using a credit or debit card or online banking
- Step 8: Select your preferred collection method to receive your road tax
Note: Vehicle owners can opt for physical or online delivery of road tax on the mySIKAP portal. For physical road tax, you can opt for self-collection at the nearest JPJ/UTC branch or have it delivered to your registered home address. For the online alternative, you can opt for digital roadtax which will be updated on the MyJPJ mobile app.
