Renew Roadtax Using MyJPJ, Pros and Cons

Indtroduction

These days, more and more drivers are turning to the MyJPJ app to renew their roadtax. The reason’s simple — no queues, no counters, and you get your digital roadtax instantly.
But like everything else, there are always two sides to the story — some great perks, and a few things you might not like. Let’s break it down.

The Perks of Using MyJPJ

First off, it’s fast and convenient. Once you log in, you just key in your vehicle details, make payment, and boom — your digital roadtax appears straight in the app. No waiting for postage, no stickers to worry about.

The best part? No extra fees. Unlike some other platforms that charge for physical delivery, MyJPJ gives you direct access to the digital version — completely free.

But What Are the Downsides?

Here’s where most people don’t realise the catch. MyJPJ doesn’t sell insurance. So if your car insurance has expired, you’ll need to renew it somewhere else first — like BJAK, MyEG, or Pos Malaysia — before you can renew your roadtax in the app.

Another thing: MyJPJ is best suited for those fine with digital-only proof. If you still need a physical roadtax sticker (especially for commercial or rural vehicles), you’ll have to handle that manually at JPJ or through a platform that offers delivery.

There are also occasional technical issues — the server can get busy, records may not sync instantly, or your insurance data might not yet update in JPJ’s system. When that happens, your renewal may be delayed even though everything looks fine on your end.

So, Should You Use MyJPJ?

If you’re fine going fully digital and your insurance is already active, then yes — MyJPJ is convenient and totally free. But if you prefer a smoother all-in-one process — renew your insurance, roadtax, and even get a physical copy sent to you — BJAK is much easier since everything can be done in one go.
