Road Tax Rates: Find Out How Much It Will Cost

Get ready to hit the road in Malaysia, but before you do, make sure you’re up to speed on the latest updates! It’s not just about driving skills and fuel in your tank, there’s one essential thing you can’t overlook: renewing your roadtax.

It’s a must-do for every vehicle user in the country, and failure to do so can land you in some serious trouble. But don’t’ worry let’s dive into this road tax rates guide and make sure you stay on the right side of the law while driving in Malaysia!

    What is road tax?

In Malaysia, every vehicle owner is required to possess a road tax document in order to drive on the road. Neglecting to renew this tax document will lead to a penalty. The road tax rates are determined by considering factors such as the vehicle’s engine capacity, location, body type, and ownership.

What will happen if you don’t renew your road tax?

If you drive without a valid road tax, it is considered a serious violation and will lead to penalties imposed by the Road Transport Department Malaysia (JPJ). Moreover, in case of an accident, you will be unable to make an insurance claim unless you renew both your road tax and vehicle insurance prior to that.
