What Is a PSV License? (Public Service Vehicle)

A PSV license is a mandatory license for drivers who carry passengers for commercial purposes.

Vehicles That Require PSV:

  • E-hailing (Grab, InDrive, airasia ride)
  • Taxis
  • Buses
  • Passenger vans (commercial)

PSV Application Requirements:

  • Minimum age: 21 years
  • Valid Competent Driving License (CDL)
  • Medical check-up
  • Attend 6-hour PSV driving course
  • Pass JPJ theory test
  • Vehicle inspection (e.g. PUSPAKOM)
  • Passenger insurance coverage

What Is a GDL License? (Goods Driving Licence)

A GDL license is required for drivers transporting commercial goods.

Vehicles That Require GDL:

  • Lorries
  • Cargo vans
  • Commercial pickup trucks
  • Any commercial freight vehicle

GDL Application Requirements:

  • Minimum age: 21 years
  • Valid CDL
  • Medical check-up (Form JPJL8A)
  • Attend and pass GDL course/test
  • Renew annually
