Parking Payments in Selangor to Go Fully Digital Starting April 1

Parking in Selangor to Go Fully Digital Starting April 1

The parking payments will go fully online in Selangor from April 1 in all districts, except for Sabak Bernam and Hulu Selangor, according to a report by Free Malaysia Today.

Public transport and new village development committee chairman Ng Sze Han said Selangor has begun implementing the system in stages since January 1 to give motorists adequate time.

He said the use of paper parking coupons and manual payments using coin machines will end on March 31.

Public can download the Smart Selangor Parking (SSP) app on their smartphones

He said the public can pay the parking fees digitally through the Smart Selangor Parking (SSP) mobile app. The app is available for download via the Apple App Store, Google Play, and the Huawei App gallery.

The app requires users to fill in their car registration numbers and pay according to the parking hours.

“For drivers who do not have a smartphone or online banking accounts, they can make payments and purchase top-up credits for e-coupons through 100 shops recognised by the local authority,” he said.

He added the shops will display the signs “SSP” and “e-coupons sold here”.

Ng said motorists can convert the unused coupons into credit through the SSP app from March 16 to April 30.

“Unlike before, senior citizens need not walk back to their car and place the printed receipts as payment is recorded online for enforcement officers to check virtually,” Ng added.

Meanwhile, Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MBSJ) will soon implement the special two-hour parking zones called “Zon 2 Jam”.

Subang Jaya Mayor Johary Anuar said MBSJ will implement it at selected busy commercial areas in Subang Jaya and Puchong.

The special parking zones that are currently under review include:

    • USJ 9
    • USJ 10
    • SS19
    • Bandar Puteri Puchong
    • Bandar Sunway

The rates for these zones will be 60sen (RM0.60) for half an hour or RM1.20 per hour.

“We aim to make the street-parking facility available to visitors to the areas rather than being dominated by those who work there,” he said.

He said private and commercial vehicles can only park for a maximum of two hours at these places. After reaching the two-hour limit, they must vacate their spots.

MBSJ is also looking to implement special parking zones on other roads and areas.
