Malaysian transportation law mandates that all registered vehicles in the country must have basic insurance coverage. A third-party insurance policy is a basic protection that all car owners should have to compensate third parties against damages such as bodily injuries, death and property damage.
We’ve previously looked at Liberty car insurance’s EZY Plus plan, which offers comprehensive coverage for cars. This article will continue exploring Liberty Insurance’s third-party coverage for private vehicles — Third-Party Fire & Theft and Third-Party plans.
Third-Party Fire & Theft
Liberty’s third-party fire and theft protects private cars against theft and damages caused by fire, explosion, and lightning. It also covers damages caused by your vehicle to a third party (bodily injuries and death) and their property.
The key features of this plan are:
Affordable premium
The TPFT plan is much more affordable than the comprehensive motor insurance plan, EZY Plus.
Flexible payment options
You can choose to pay the annual insurance premium by cash, cheque or credit card.
Property damage
Protection against theft or fire damage with a maximum repair cost of RM20,000 from Liberty Insurance.
Liability cover
Policyholders are protected against bodily injury and death of a third party or damage to their property during an accident. Liberty covers both the damage and legal fees.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the TPFT plan, you must fulfil the following criteria:
- Malaysian vehicle owners and their authorised driver(s)
- Between the ages of 22 and 70
- Has a valid driving licence
Benefits

ii) Against damage to third party’s property – A maximum of RM3 million
Loss or Damage
i) Protects vehicle owners against loss or damage by fire, explosion or lightning, burglary, housebreaking or theft based on the Sum Insured amount at the time of loss – A maximum of RM20,000.
Third-Party
The third-party private car insurance plan differs slightly from the third-party fire and theft plan. Since the plan does not cover damages caused by fire or theft, it is more affordable. It offers protection against death or injury to third parties and liabilities.
The key features of this plan are summarised below:
