Kajang Silk Highway To Be Closed On May 26 & 27

    Kajang Silk Highway closed

Highway lane closures can be frustrating as they cause traffic jams and rerouting that can confuse drivers. Earlier this year, PLUS Malaysia Berhad announced the closure of several lanes at the NVKE in light of some upgrading works of a KTM bridge.

This week, it appears that PROLINTAS had to do the same, as it will implement a full two-way closure of the Kajang Silk Highway (E18).

The full closure will occur on 26 May 2023 and 27 May 2023 from 10 pm to 5 am, much like the NKVE lane closure. The highway will be closed due to the building of a new pedestrian bridge.

The specific location of the closure will be at Sungai Ramal, near Food Valet and JB Autoworld.

As this will be a full shut-off, PROLINTAS will open two alternative routes for vehicles to pass during the designated hours.

Those heading towards Putrajaya must turn left after the Shell petrol station near the N9 Food Court. Then, use the alternative route to pass the work site and re-enter the highway.

    Alternative routes during the closure

As for those heading towards Kajang, the detour is unfortunately much longer via Bangi. They must leave the Kajang Silk Highway to enter Persiaran Jaya at Seksyen 9 Bandar Baru Bangi.

Then, head towards Econsave Bangi via Persiaran Bangi and turn left at Jalan Reko to rejoin the E18.

PROLINAS said traffic controllers and road signs will be placed in the affected areas to control the movement of vehicles and equipment at the construction site. Hence, drivers should obey the speed limit and instructions from staff manning the traffic.

If you’re a frequent user of the E18, please take note of this change. Remember to drive carefully to the construction site and contact PROLINTAS at 1800-22-8888 if you need help.

We hope the pedestrian bridge can be completed in time, so the highway closure will not be extended.
