NKVE Lane Closure & Contraflow Between Shah Alam-Subang

    NKVE lane closure - cover

Attention road users! Please note that several lanes on the New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE) will remain closed due to some upgrading works of a KTM bridge at KM11.25 between the Shah Alam and Subang exchange.

PLUS Malaysia Berhad announced this in March this year, and the closure will be effective from 10 pm to 5 am daily until 2 November 2023. However, some recent updates involve changes to the closure timing and a contraflow that will be in place.

Initial announcement on NKVE lane closure

As per the initial announcement, the staggered lane closures will occur at night between KM10.5 and KM11.3 Shah Alam-Subang and KM11.7 and KM11.1 Subang-Shah Alam of the NKVE.

From KM10.5 to KM11.3, Shah Alam-Subang bound, the left and middle lanes will be closed to facilitate upgrading works of a KTM bridge at KM11.25. Meanwhile, from KM11.7 to KM11.1 Subang-Shah Alam bound, the right and middle lanes will be closed.

    Lane closures and a contraflow

Recent changes to the lane closures include a contraflow between Shah Alam and Subang from KM9.5 to KM11.7, northbound. This contraflow will be in place from 11 pm until 5 am daily until 18 June 2023.

Due to the scale of upgrading work, these new changes are implemented by PLUS Malaysia Berhad. The contraflow involves the closure of several lanes. Hence, traffic on the NKVE is also expected to be slow during these times.

Road closures are not something many drivers prefer as they tend to worsen the traffic. But due to upgrading works, we should brace ourselves to tolerate these changes for the next six months.

If you’re an NKVE user, please take note of the closures and drive safely on the road, especially at night. Do inform your family and friends who might also be affected by this.
