Lost Your Car Grant? Here’s What You Need To Do

How to replace a lost car grant

The Road Transport Department (JPJ) announced the replacement of the old car grant with the Vehicle Ownership Certificate (VOC) effective June 2016. It is an effort to further streamline and expand the department’s online services and enable easier and faster future transactions for the public.

Similar to a grant, the VOC contains all relevant vehicle and ownership details online.

Though it is not necessary to provide the car grant during the roadtax renewal or changing of vehicle ownership, note that you will need the document if you would like to sell your car.

Can you sell your car without a car grant?

    The answer is NO.

You need to provide the original certificate (car grant) if you intend to sell your car.

But what if you lose your car grant? Is there a way to replace it?

Luckily, you can replace it. We share in this post the steps that you can follow to apply for car grant replacement.

For the third option, you need to go to the bank that your car loan is under. You need to request the original car loan from your bank according to the Hire Purchase Amendment Act 2010.

*Note: This option is only applicable for those who have never gotten an original grant from the bank

    Here are the steps:

    • Complete the required forms
