Travelling To Malaysia: Here's The Covid-19 Protocol To Follow

Malaysia is among the South East Asia countries that you can’t forget to visit! From a wide variety of scrumptious cuisines and cultures to beautiful places – you can get everything in this homeland.

Here is good news for international travellers! Malaysia has finally reopened after two years of travel restrictions.

The country is set to transition to the endemic phase after over two years of battling the Covid-19 pandemic. Following that, it has already welcomed travellers with minimal requirements starting on April 1.

VLT by air initiative replaced the Border Opening General Protocol

The government announced the replacement of VTL by air initiative between Malaysia and Cambodia, Singapore and Thailand with the Border Opening General Protocol for common travellers starting April 1.

That said, travellers from these countries just have to follow the health protocol under the General Protocol set by MOH, just like travellers from other countries.

Get COVID-19 Travel Insurance to enter Malaysia

Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said that all foreign travellers must purchase travel insurance with a minimum coverage of US$20,000 (RM84,000).

The insurance protection will cover the costs of quarantine, treatment, and hospital admission if the traveller is to be infected while here.

The travellers also need to declare in MySejahtera that they have an insurance protection policy that covers travel and Covid-19, before departure.

However, travel insurance is exempted for Malaysia and Singapore citizens travelling between both countries. The exemption is a reciprocal arrangement between the two countries.
