Effective 29 November 2021, the Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) between Malaysia and Singapore has been open.

Malaysia-Singapore Vaccinated Travel Lane
According to a press statement from Malaysia’s Prime Minister’s Office on 24 November 2021, Malaysia and Singapore have agreed to launch the Malaysia-Singapore Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) effective 29 November 2021. This is following the success of Malaysia and Singapore in achieving more than 95% rate of vaccinated adult population.
Referring to the MySafeTravel’s portal, the VTL is in place to allow fully-vaccinated individuals to enter other countries without quarantine, subject to the Covid-19 assessment and other requirements stipulated by the destination country.
To date, only the Malaysia-Singapore Vaccinated Travel Lane is available. The VTL for other countries will be made available in stages subject to risk assessment.
Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL-Land)
Currently, the VTL-Land is only via bus transportation as a control measure. The inclusion of other modes of transportation will be in stages.
The boarding and disembarkation point for the VTL-Land in Malaysia is Larkin Sentral Bus Terminal in Johor. The boarding and disembarkation points for the VTL-Land in Singapore are Queen Street Terminal and Woodlands Temporary Bus Interchange Terminal.
Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL-Air)
The VTL-Air is between the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), Malaysia and the Changi Airport, Singapore.
Other entry and exit points in Malaysia and Singapore may be available later subject to mutual agreement.
Requirements for the Vaccinated Travel Lane
In order to travel through the Vaccinated Travel Lane, you will need to fulfill the following requirements:
Being fully vaccinated
You are only eligible for the VTL if you are fully vaccinated.
This means that if you receive two-dose vaccines such as Pfizer, AstraZeneca and Sinovac vaccines, you will need to pass 14 days after the second jab.
Meanwhile, for single-dose vaccines such as Johnson & Johnson and CanSino, you will need to pass 28 days after the jab.
Children below 12 years who are unvaccinated must be accompanied by their fully-vaccinated parents or guardians.
Traveller’s category
Fully-vaccinated travellers can take part in the VTL if they are Malaysia or Singapore citizens,
Malaysia or Singapore Permanent Residents or Malaysia or Singapore Long-Term Pass Holders. As for children below 12 years old who are unvaccinated, they must be accompanied by their fully-vaccinated parents or guardians.
Additionally, travellers must have remained in either Malaysia or Singapore in the last 14 consecutive days before departure to either country.
Covid-19 test and health requirements
You will have to be tested negative for Covid-19 to be eligible for the VTL. You must take the test either through the Antigen Rapid Test (ART) or the Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction Test (RT-PCR), two (2) days before travel.
In addition, the eligibility for the VTL is subject to further health requirements determined by the respective country.
Procedure to use the Vaccinated Travel Lane
Registration for the VTL
Travellers from Singapore to Malaysia need to register at https://mysafetravel.gov.my/.
Meanwhile, travellers from Malaysia to Singapore need to register at https://go.gov.sg/vtl-portal.
It is advisable that you make your registration at least seven (7) days before travel.
Purchase of ticket
After the registration, you can purchase your ticket for the VTL-Land at www.causewaylink.com.my or www.transtar.travel.
For the VTL-Air, you can purchase your flight ticket at a few websites. They are AirAsia, Jetstar Asia, Malaysia Airlines, Malindo Air, Scoot or Singapore Airlines (SIA).
Covid-19 test
It is compulsory for you to test for Covid-19 (Antigen Rapid Test (ART)/Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction Test (RT-PCR) two (2) days before travel. Note that a medical professional must administer the test.
Digital and copy of vaccination certificate
If you receive your vaccines in Malaysia, you may download the application MySejahtera in order to access your vaccination certificate.
Meanwhile, if you receive your vaccines in Singapore, you may download one of these applications namely Notarise, HealthHub or TraceTogether to access your certificate.
Vaccinated travel pass
If you are a Long-Term Pass Holder travelling from Malaysia to Singapore, you will have to obtain a vaccinated travel pass. You can obtain it via https://go.gov.sg/vtl-portal in order to enter Singapore.
Travel/Medical insurance
Travellers in Malaysia entering Singapore should have travel or medical insurance for medical treatment and hospitalisation costs related to the Covid-19. The minimum coverage amount required is SGD30,000 that is equivalent to RM100,000.
Comply with the SOP while travelling
Travelling through the Malaysia-Singapore Vaccinated Travel Lane without quarantine will certainly relieve individuals who have long been away from family and relatives due to movement control orders.
