4 Ways You Can Renew Your Road Tax In 2024

    Renew Road Tax - cover

2024 has been great so far, as many of us woke up to the exciting news of MyJPJ roadtax renewal starting 1 February 2024 from the Transport Minister recently. While it’s certainly great to have another alternative online road tax renewal coming our way, let’s take a quick look at all the other available methods for vehicle owners.

As of January 2024, there are four predominant ways to get roadtax renewed both online and offline. We have excluded renewals through JPJ counters in this list and presented other means that provide faster services.

    3. Fill in your personal particulars and vehicle details
    4. Request for an insurance quote
    5. Select your preferred policy & roadtax renewal
    6. Make payment and receive your cover note online
    7. Receive roadtax sticker via delivery or the digital copy online

    MyEG road tax renewal

MyEG is one of the go-to platforms to renew road tax for motor vehicles. It offers a range of e-government services, such as zakat payments, renewal of foreign workers’ permits and application of MyKad replacements.

Here are the steps involved in the MyEG roadtax renewal.

    • Visit MyEG’s website at www.myeg.com.my.
    • Create an account under “Register” if you’re a new user, or proceed to log in to the portal with your username and password if you’re an existing user.
    • Once logged in, click the “Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan” option on the home screen.
    • Select the “Road Tax Renewal” option from the menu list.
    • You will then be asked to choose car or motorcycle road tax renewal options.
    • Choose your vehicle type, then fill in the owner and vehicle information on the next page, such as ID, name, vehicle registration number and renewal period.
    • Enter the security keyword that you see on the page before clicking ‘Proceed’.
    • Verify your vehicle details and insurance information and complete the transaction by making a payment.

Once you have completed the payment, you just have to wait for the delivery of your roadtax. Physical roadtax stickers will be delivered to your registered address, whereas digital copies will be updated in your MyJPJ mobile application. Check your MyJPJ app after 24 hours to view your roadtax.

    Post office renewals

Renewing road tax at the post office is a better option for those who prefer offline renewals. We suggest visiting the post offices over JPJ counters as it takes much less time due to shorter queues.

Here’s how you can renew road tax at post office in Malaysia.

    1. Visit any post office branch in your vicinity
    2. Take the respective queue number and wait to be called
    3. Request for road tax renewal when it’s your turn. State the vehicle registration number and hand in your ID card for verification.
    4. Your road tax will be renewed accordingly and activated immediately.
    5. Wait to be called again to collect the physical copy of your road tax (if you opt for the sticker).

    mySIKAP renewals

Besides these methods, you may also use mySIKAP, a platform by JPJ, for roadtax renewal. Other than renewing roadtax, you can use mySIKAP for services such as changing vehicle ownership, buying license plate numbers viewing traffic summonses and renewing driving licences.

Here are the steps to get your roadtax renewed via mySIKAP.

    • Visit the mySIKAP website at https://public.jpj.gov.my/public/login.zul
    • Log in using your username, password and the security code displayed
