What is Drive Less, Save More add-On?
Drive Less, Save More is an initiative by Etiqa to support people who are driving less due to a change in lifestyle following the Covid-19 pandemic. It’s a new add-on benefit that enables car owners to enjoy cash rebates of up to 30% of the basic premium (minus the No Claim Discount) when they sign up for the Etiqa Car Insurance comprehensive plan.
Since more people have adopted hybrid and remote working arrangements, there has been a reduction in driving activity. To reward car owners, Etiqa allows policyholders to have the Drive Less Save More Insurance add-on at no additional cost when they sign up for car insurance.
How does it work?
Etiqa’s Drive More Save Less add-on benefit can only be purchased when signing up for the Etiqa Motor Insurance plan. This add-on does not require any additional premium and is completely free of charge. Policyholders can also enjoy their car insurance NCD on top of the cash rebate.
Sign up for the benefit
Sign up for Etiqa’s comprehensive car plan and add the Drive Less Save More benefit to your policy. You can only add the benefit during your insurance sign-up or renewal.
Activate the benefit
After signing up, upload an image of your car’s odometer reading and car number plate via the Etiqa Smile App at your convenience.
Claim your rebate
To claim your cash rebate, subsequent uploads of your car odometer reading will be required during the coverage period. The odometer reading can be uploaded as frequently as you wish, for at least ten days between uploads.
Submit the final upload
Upon expiration of your car insurance plan, you are required to submit the final odometer reading. You will receive an SMS reminder to submit the reading three days before the expiration date.
Cash rebate rate
The Drive Less Save More cash rebate is calculated on a daily basis as a percentage of the basic premium (minus the No Claim Discount), as illustrated in the table below:

Eligibility
Customers and their vehicles should fulfil some eligibility requirements Etiqa sets to enjoy the Drive Less Save More add-on. First, the insured person must be between 25 and 80 years old.
On the other hand, the insured vehicle must not exceed 20 years at the time of signing for the policy. Besides, the sum insured for the car must be at least RM12,000 to be considered for this benefit. All insured vehicles must only be used for private purposes. Commercial and other types of cars cannot enjoy cash rebates.
