Malaysia-Singapore: A week toll exemption for all vehicles

A week toll exemption for all vehicles

The government has announced a toll exemption for all vehicles at the Malaysia-Singapore border for a week.

The toll exemption is applicable for all vehicles travelling via the Johor Causeway (Sultan Iskandar) and the Second Link (Tanjung Kupang) from 1 until 7 April.

The announcement is made by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, in conjunction with reopening land routes between the two countries starting this April 1.

Ismail said the exemption aims to smooth traffic at the two toll plazas with the opening of the land border.

“The move is in line with the approach to facilitate cross-border movement with Singapore. This exemption is for Malaysians and consumers to top up or renew their Touch ‘n Go and Smart Tag.

“This exemption is in addition to the Road Charge waiver given to Singapore-registered private vehicles when entering Malaysia by land at both locations,” he added.

Ismail said PLUS Malaysia Bhd (PLUS) has estimated that at least 42,000 vehicles would enter Malaysia daily via the Johor Causeway and the Linkedua.

“The toll exemption will benefit more than 300,000 Malaysia-Singapore cross-border trips for vehicle owners.

“The government welcomes the return of Malaysians in Singapore. The same goes for the arrival of Singaporeans to Malaysia with the reopening of the country’s borders.”

Previously, the government announced the full reopening of the Malaysia-Singapore land border starting on April 1.

Fully vaccinated travellers do not have to undergo quarantine and Covid-19 testing before and after their arrival. This will apply to all categories of travellers and modes of transport via the land border.
