How To Renew Road Tax At Post Office?

Renew road tax post office - cover

In Malaysia, every vehicle owner must possess a valid driver’s licence and road tax to drive legally. As the name suggests, a road tax is a form of taxation that vehicle owners must pay the government to legally operate their vehicles on public roads. It is often renewed annually through various means, including online and offline.

Although online platforms are slowly replacing offline methods, renewing road tax at the post office is still highly preferable because owners can receive road tax stickers immediately.

In this article, we will explain the process involved in renewing your road tax via post office counters in Malaysia. Read on to find out what you must do before visiting an outlet and how to perform renewals effortlessly.

    What to do before?

Before proceeding with the renewal of road tax at the post office, as a vehicle owner, you need to ensure that the following matters have been addressed:

    • Pay all outstanding fines. You can check the arrears of the summons through the MyBayar Saman application only for easier and faster transactions.
    • Ensure your road tax expiry date is not more than three years. If the expiry date exceeds three years, you must bring your vehicle to Puspakom for an inspection before renewing your road tax.
    • Ensure the vehicle insurance has been renewed. If not, please bring enough money to the post office to renew your insurance. Remember, your road tax renewal will not be processed without valid insurance.
    • Check your road tax price through the old road tax sticker or the MyJPJ application, which displays your digital road tax.
