What to do before?

- Ensure your road tax expiry date is not more than three years. If the expiry date exceeds three years, you must bring your vehicle to Puspakom for an inspection before renewing your road tax.
- Ensure the vehicle insurance has been renewed. If not, please bring enough money to the post office to renew your insurance. Remember, your road tax renewal will not be processed without valid insurance.
- Check your road tax price through the old road tax sticker or the MyJPJ application, which displays your digital road tax.
Documents to bring
Road tax renewal at post offices is simple and easy. Please bring along the following documents to facilitate the process.
- Bring your ID card and driver’s licence
- Remember your vehicle registration number
- Ensure that your vehicle insurance has been renewed (the policy cover note is not required)
Note: You will be charged a processing fee of RM2 to renew road tax via post office counters. If your road tax price is RM90.00, the total amount that needs to be paid after adding the processing fee is RM92.00.
You can also renew your insurance directly at post office counters. Usually, you won’t be charged extra for insurance renewal. However, ensure that you have enough money to perform the renewal.
How to renew road tax at the post office?
Here are the steps involved in successfully renewing your road tax at any post office in Malaysia.
- 1) Visit any post office branch in your vicinity
- 2) Take the respective queue number and wait to be called
- 3) When it’s your turn, request for road tax renewal. You will be asked to state the vehicle registration number and hand in your ID card for verification.
- 4) Your road tax will be renewed accordingly and activated immediately.
- 5) Wait to be called again to collect the physical copy of your road tax (if you opt for the sticker)
Note: You can only perform road tax renewal if your insurance has been renewed. Owners can choose to renew their road tax for a minimum of 6 months and a maximum of 1 year.
