    Why is PUSPAKOM inspection important?

Vehicle inspection by PUSPAKOM helps guarantee vehicle safety and compliance with the regulations

PUSPAKOM is a vehicle inspection company appointed by the Malaysian Government to undertake all mandatory inspections for commercial and private vehicles.

The inspection helps guarantee a vehicle’s safety and compliance with the regulations set by the authorities.

    Types of inspections

There are several vehicle inspections available at PUSPAKOM. You may refer to this article to identify the inspection needed for your vehicle:

    Periodic inspection

According to the Road Transport Act 1987, it is a requirement for commercial vehicles to undergo a routined inspection at PUSPAKOM every six months.

The periodic inspection applies to all commercial vehicles, including a taxi, rental car, limousine taxi, bus, minibus, van and jeep. A fee of RM50 is charged for each periodic inspection.

    Transfer of ownership

The Road Transport Act 1987 also requires all private vehicles to undergo a Transfer of Ownership Inspection at PUSPAKOM before the ownership transfer.

This inspection helps protect the new vehicle owner from buying or owning an unlawful vehicle, such as a cut-and-joined vehicle.

You need to pay RM30 for the inspection’s fee.

    Preliminary inspection

New or used commercial vehicles whose ownership has yet to be changed must undergo a Preliminary Inspection before they are registered with the Road Transport Department. This ensures that the vehicle complies with its construction and standards of use.

You need to pay between RM30 to RM90 for the inspection’s fee.

    Hire Purchase inspection

According to the Hire Purchase Act 1967, any buyer applying for a loan to purchase a used vehicle must send the car for a Hire Purchase Inspection. This inspection helps protect buyers of used vehicles from buying an illegal or unroadworthy vehicle.

You need to pay RM60 for the inspection’s fee.

    Voluntary vehicle inspection

Voluntary Vehicle Inspection helps you understand the conditions of your vehicle. You will understand better what maintenance requirements are needed to ensure your vehicle’s roadworthiness.

However, it is not a mandatory inspection under the Road Transport Act.

You need to pay RM50 for the inspection’s fee.

    Special inspection

Special Inspection is mandatory for the following vehicles:

    1. Private vehicles with expired road tax of more than 3 years
    2. Commercial or private vehicles that undergo vehicle modifications – auto body, chassis or engine modification
    3. Interchange of car plate numbers
    4. New or used imported vehicles to be registered with the Road Transport Department
    5. Other types of requirements requested by the Road Transport Department

The inspection fees vary based on the type of vehicle ranging from RM30 to RM90.
