1. Check Your Roadtax Through MyJPJ
MyJPJ is the official JPJ app for checking vehicle and licence information.
After logging in, you can view your vehicle details and digital e-LKM. The app shows whether your LKM is still valid and its expiry date.
JPJ also displays your vehicle’s insurance expiry date together with the digital e-LKM. This makes MyJPJ useful for checking both your roadtax and insurance status in one place.
If your LKM status shows “Berkuatkuasa”, it is still valid. If it shows “Tidak Berkuatkuasa”, the LKM is no longer valid.

How Early Can You Renew Roadtax?
You don’t have to wait until your roadtax expires.
According to JPJ, an LKM can be renewed up to two months before its expiry date, subject to the applicable requirements.
For private vehicles, the usual renewal periods are 6 months or 1 year.
You also need valid motor insurance or takaful for the period of LKM you want to renew.
What If Your Roadtax Has Already Expired?
If your roadtax has expired, avoid driving the vehicle on public roads until the LKM is valid again.
First, check whether your motor insurance is still active. You can then renew your insurance if necessary before proceeding with the LKM renewal.
If your LKM has been expired for more than three years, additional inspection requirements apply. JPJ states that the vehicle must pass a PUSPAKOM inspection, while certain individually owned motorcycles may qualify for a PG10 inspection instead.
