Need to renew your roadtax but don’t want to queue at a JPJ counter?

You can use a JPJ self-service kiosk for selected roadtax, driving licence and vehicle-related transactions.

JPJ has expanded its kiosk network over the years. As of 2025, there were 213 JPJ kiosks across Malaysia, introduced in several phases. This means the old list of 36 locations and 51 kiosks is no longer the complete list.

In this article, we’ll explain what you can do at a JPJ kiosk and how to check the latest kiosk locations.

What services are available at JPJ kiosks?

The services available depend on the type and location of the kiosk.

Among the services provided through JPJ kiosks are:

  • Renewal of Motor Vehicle Licence (LKM) or roadtax
  • Renewal of Malaysian Driving Licence (LMM)
  • First-time LKM printing for selected vehicles
  • LKM copy or replacement printout
  • Vehicle Ownership Certificate (VOC) printing
  • VOC copy
  • JPJ summons checking and payment
  • Vehicle information checking
  • Driving licence information checking
  • Insurance information checking
  • JPJeID registration

JPJ states that representatives can also renew LKM and LMM for another person at its kiosks, subject to the applicable requirements.

Not every kiosk offers every service, so check the services available at your chosen location before visiting.

How many JPJ kiosks are there in Malaysia?

The old figure of 51 kiosks across 36 locations refers to the earlier Phase 1 rollout.

JPJ has since expanded the network:

  • Phase 1: 51 kiosks
  • Phase 2: 50 kiosks
  • Phase 3: 100 kiosks
  • Phase 4: e-Renewal kiosks introduced from 2024

That brought the number of JPJ kiosks to 213 units as of 2025.

The Phase 3 expansion also extended the kiosk network to Sabah and Sarawak.

Where can I find a JPJ kiosk?

JPJ kiosks are available at selected:

  • JPJ state offices
  • JPJ branches
  • UTC locations
  • Other selected JPJ premises

Some of the locations listed in JPJ’s official kiosk directory include:

  • JPJ Putrajaya
  • JPJ Wangsa Maju
  • UTC Sentul
  • UTC Pudu
  • UTC Keramat
  • JPJ Padang Jawa
  • JPJ Petaling Jaya
  • JPJ Banting
  • JPJ Bangi
  • JPJ Negeri Perlis
  • JPJ Negeri Kedah
  • JPJ Sungai Petani
  • JPJ Kulim
  • JPJ Negeri Perak
  • JPJ Sri Manjung
  • JPJ Taiping
  • UTC Ipoh
  • JPJ Seberang Jaya
  • JPJ Batu Uban

This is only part of the network. JPJ’s official directory should be used to check the latest location and number of kiosks, rather than relying on the old 36-location list.

Can I renew roadtax at a JPJ kiosk?

Yes, selected JPJ kiosks allow renewal of Lesen Kenderaan Motor (LKM) for private cars and motorcycles.

JPJ’s current kiosk information specifically lists LKM renewal for:

  • Private cars
  • Private motorcycles

Some kiosks also provide LKM printing and copy services.

However, JPJ has also introduced e-Renewal kiosks. These are designed for online transactions and do not provide physical printing.

Do I still need a physical roadtax?

Not necessarily.

For eligible vehicles, JPJ now provides digital LKM (e-LKM) through the MyJPJ app.

This means you can view your roadtax information digitally instead of relying on the traditional physical roadtax disc.

MyJPJ also allows users to check their LKM expiry date and vehicle information.

If you still need a physical LKM printout, check whether the kiosk you plan to visit provides that service.

What should I check before visiting a JPJ kiosk?

Before heading to a kiosk, check:

1. The kiosk location

JPJ has more than 200 kiosks nationwide, so choose the nearest suitable location.

2. Services available

Not every kiosk provides the same transactions.

For example, an e-Renewal kiosk may not provide physical document printing.

3. Operating hours

Don’t assume every kiosk operates at the same time.

Check the latest information for the specific JPJ office, branch or UTC where the kiosk is located before visiting.

4. Your roadtax and insurance status

If you’re renewing your LKM, make sure your vehicle has valid insurance and meets JPJ’s renewal requirements.

You can also check your LKM expiry date through MyJPJ.

Can I renew roadtax without going to a kiosk?

Yes.

A JPJ kiosk is only one of the available options.

You can also use digital services such as MyJPJ, depending on your vehicle and transaction eligibility. JPJ currently lists three main digital/service channels apart from counters: the MySIKAP public portal, MyJPJ app and JPJ kiosks.

For eligible users, MyJPJ can be a convenient option because your digital LKM can be accessed through the app.
