Which Travel Insurance Should You Choose?

There is no single travel insurance plan that is suitable for every traveller.

Before buying a policy, compare the benefits that matter most to your trip.

Travelling overseas?

Pay close attention to:

  • Overseas medical expenses
  • Emergency medical evacuation
  • Repatriation
  • Trip cancellation
  • Travel delay
  • Baggage protection
  • Personal liability

Medical and evacuation limits are especially important when travelling to countries where healthcare costs are high.

Travelling within Malaysia?

You may not need the same level of coverage as an overseas trip.

Instead, look at benefits such as:

  • Personal accident
  • Medical expenses
  • Travel delay
  • Trip cancellation
  • Baggage protection

Travelling several times a year?

An annual travel insurance plan may be worth comparing with buying separate single-trip policies for every journey.

However, check the maximum number of days allowed for each trip and the destinations covered.

Compare Travel Insurance Through BJAK

If you want to compare travel insurance online, BJAK currently lists travel plans from Zurich, Allianz and Liberty on its travel-insurance platform.

The available plans and benefits can change, so it is better to check the current quotation rather than relying on an old list of insurers or fixed benefit amounts.

When comparing plans, look beyond the premium.

Check the:

  • Medical coverage
  • Emergency evacuation limit
  • Trip cancellation coverage
  • Baggage coverage
  • Travel delay benefits
  • Personal liability
  • Policy exclusions
  • Maximum trip duration
  • Destination restrictions

Most importantly, read the policy wording and Product Disclosure Sheet before purchasing.

Travel With More Confidence

Travel insurance cannot prevent your flight from being delayed or your luggage from being lost.

What it can do is provide financial protection when certain unexpected events covered by your policy happen during your trip.

So before you fly, take a few minutes to compare the available plans, coverage limits and exclusions.

Choose a plan based on your destination, trip duration and the type of protection you actually need.
