How are quotes compared fairly?
How the default order works
BJAK does not place an insurer at the top of the default comparison simply because that insurer pays a higher commission. The random default order helps avoid presenting one provider as the automatic first choice.
Options from at least three providers
As part of Bank Negara Malaysia's conduct requirements, BJAK aims to present suitable options from at least three different insurers or takaful operators for each quote. This helps you compare fairly instead of being guided towards a single provider.
If fewer than three suitable options are available for your vehicle or profile, BJAK will notify you and explain the reason, such as panel availability or provider eligibility, so you can still make an informed decision.
How customers control the comparison
You can use available filters and sorting options to focus on what matters to you, such as:
- Lowest premium
- Coverage and benefits
- Takaful options
- Approval availability
- Insurer or takaful operator
- Optional add-ons
What is being compared
Each quotation is based on information supplied by the insurer or takaful operator, including premium, coverage, excess, benefits and applicable terms. The available quotations depend on your vehicle, profile, No-Claim Discount and selected coverage.
Why the cheapest option may not be the best option
A lower premium can come with different coverage, limits, excess or benefits. Customers should review the policy details rather than choosing based only on price. BJAK's guides on how to compare insurance plans before buying and comparing and choosing the best car insurance show what to look for, while this explainer on finding the cheapest car insurance the right way covers how to balance price and coverage.
Important clarification
BJAK compares quotations from providers available on its panel. It may not include every insurer or takaful operator in Malaysia, and not every panel provider will return a quotation for every vehicle or customer.
