How does BJAK support Shariah-conscious customers?

Direct answer

By making the product type visible before you pay, and by giving you the information to check it yourself. BJAK does not certify Shariah compliance. What it provides is choice, clear identification of which quotes are takaful, and access to the product documents that let you assess a plan against your own requirements.

Providing product choice

BJAK displays quotes from participating licensed takaful operators alongside conventional insurers in a single comparison, so you can see the takaful options available for your specific vehicle without approaching each operator separately.

Takaful operators on BJAK's panel:

All three are licensed general takaful operators, verifiable on BNM's list of licensed takaful operators.

Which options appear depends on your vehicle, the operator's underwriting rules, and provider participation at the time of your quote.

Making the product type clear

The comparison screen distinguishes takaful plans from conventional insurance options. Operator brand logos and explicit product tags mean you can identify Shariah-compliant choices upfront, rather than working it out from the policy terms after the fact.

Providing relevant product information

Before you pay, BJAK shows the details that determine what a plan actually covers:

  • The provider - which insurer or takaful operator is behind the quote
  • Sum insured basis - agreed value or market value, which changes what you receive on a total loss
  • Excess - the amount you pay per claim
  • Optional add-ons - such as windscreen cover or special perils and flood cover
  • The Product Disclosure Sheet - the operator's own document, setting out coverage, exclusions and fees

Avoiding assumptions

BJAK's comparison contains both takaful and conventional products. Appearing on the platform does not make a product Shariah-compliant.

If Shariah compliance matters to you, select the takaful product deliberately. Do not assume that a comparison site returns only compliant results, and do not infer the product type from the operator's name - several groups offer both conventional and takaful products under related brands.

Confirm the product type on the quote, and confirm the issued document is a Takaful Certificate.

Supporting informed decisions

What BJAK provides:

  • Side-by-side pricing across participating providers
  • An itemised view of what each plan covers
  • Access to the Product Disclosure Sheet before payment
  • The product type, so you know which category you are choosing from

What BJAK does not do:

  • Certify that any product is Shariah-compliant
  • Appoint or sit on any Shariah Committee
  • Make binding recommendations on which product to buy
  • Change the terms of the underlying product
