Can Muslim customers use BJAK to buy car insurance?
Yes. Muslim customers can compare and buy motor takaful on BJAK from licensed operators. Buying here does not change your certificate or its Shariah status.
Can Muslim customers purchase through BJAK?
Yes. Muslim customers can use BJAK to compare, select and purchase motor takaful or conventional coverage from participating licensed operators.
- Takaful and conventional options appear together in the same comparison
- You select which to buy; BJAK does not make binding recommendations
- The certificate is issued by the takaful operator, not by BJAK
- Takaful is open to customers of any faith — there is no eligibility restriction either way
Are takaful choices available?
Yes. BJAK's panel includes licensed general takaful operators alongside conventional insurers. As of September 2026, the takaful operators on BJAK's panel are:
- Syarikat Takaful Malaysia Am Berhad
- Takaful Ikhlas General Berhad
- Zurich General Takaful Malaysia Berhad
All three are licensed general takaful operators. You can verify each on BNM's list of licensed takaful operators.
Which options appear to you depends on:
- Your vehicle — make, model, age and engine capacity
- Your profile — the operator's underwriting rules
- Provider participation at the time of your quote
Does using BJAK change the Shariah status of the product?
No. Using BJAK as a distribution channel does not alter the underlying contract or the Shariah status of the takaful certificate you select.
What stays with the takaful operator:
- The contract itself, and all its terms
- The Shariah structure of the product
- Oversight by that operator's Shariah Committee
- Underwriting and claim decisions
- Issuance of your Takaful Certificate
What BJAK provides:
- The comparison and the purchase experience
- Product information from participating operators
- Post-sale servicing support
What should Shariah-conscious customers check?
Before you pay:
- The provider is named, and is a licensed takaful operator — verify on BNM's directory
- The product is identified as takaful, not conventional
- Coverage, exclusions and excess match your requirements — check the Product Disclosure Sheet
At checkout:
- The provider on the payment summary matches what you selected
After issuance:
- The document is a Takaful Certificate, not an insurance policy
- The issuing entity is the takaful operator, named on the certificate
Where can customers ask further questions?
For technical queries regarding takaful contracts, Shariah governance structures or fund investments, customers should refer directly to the designated takaful operator's official Shariah disclosures.
